In 2018, the business appointed Leavitt Walmsley Associates (LWA), to provide an accountancy service with a similar ethos.
When Les first met Managing Director, Andrew Harrison, with his finance team at the premises, he saw the potential opportunity to claim for Research and Development (R&D) tax relief and advised Andrew on the benefits of looking into this. Andrew subsequently appointed a R&D Tax Consultant resulting in significant refunds from HMRC which the business has been able to reinvest in new equipment and machinery.
LWA also identified the need for Andrew Plastics to strengthen its finance function by bringing in an experienced Financial Director to take over tasks that were not core to Andrew’s key strengths. Thus, allowing Andrew to refocus his strengths in areas of expertise including product development, whilst also allowing him to work on business growth.
Our accounts team worked alongside the finance department at Andrew Plastics to advise on getting the best out of their chosen software – Sage. We improved the quality and timing of the reports generated from Sage to ensure the new Financial Director and Andrew had more timely and accurate financial reports to work with and from which to make important business decisions.
